Obituary of Walter Ware, Jr.
Mr. Walter Ware, Jr. was born on December 3, 1939 in Fort Myers, Florida, to the late Walter Ware, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Primus. He graduated from Dunbar High School in the class of 1957 and attended Allen University, graduating in 1961. He also attended University of Georgia in 1967, where he obtained his master’s degree and went on to spend two years in law school.
At an early age, Walter accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He was a faithful member of St. James A.M.E. Church, where he sang in the mass choir and with the Sons of Allen.
Mr. Ware served in the army for two years, was a school teacher, choir instructor, director of civil personnel at Naval Air Station Jacksonville for twenty years, and a recruiter at Edward Waters College. Walter was a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and was a founding member of the University of Georgia Chapter.
Walter’s outgoing personality could warm any room. He enjoyed playing baseball, fishing on his boat, playing golf and playing the piano. Orange Park, Florida, was his home for over 30 years. He was active in the community, having volunteered with youth and served as a coach. Walter was always looking for ways to help and serve others, especially his family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter Ware, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Primus, and his sister, Betty.
Walter leaves his legacy of love and many wonderful memories to be cherished by his loving wife of 48 years, Dorothy Ware; his children, Walette (Jimmie), Rawn and Walter III; his three sisters, Margaret Tribble of Athens, Georgia, Louise Johnson of Fort Myers, and Linda Jackson of Miami, Florida; his five grandchildren, Jaylen, Jakobe, Christopher, Caleb and Casetta; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loyal friends and family.
Walter went home to be with the Lord on June 5, 2015.
