Obituary of Miguel Angel Batlle

Dr. Miguel Angel Batlle, 62, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015. Dr. Batlle was born on September 27, 1953 in San Salvador, El Salvador. He came from humble beginnings before immigrating to the United States and following his dreams to become a medical doctor. No matter where he went, Dr. Batlle always made sure he had his beans, tortillas, and avocados, a staple of his culture. He was a kind and compassionate man, often going above and beyond to help his loved ones and his patients. Even when his waiting room was full and behind schedule, his patients waited loyally. They knew that once they were with their doctor he would allow all the time he needed to ensure they felt truly cared for. Many patients commented that he wasn't only their doctor, he was their friend. Dr. Batlle served in the United States Navy for six years as a Corpsman before attending University of Washington Medical School. He was a member of the Family Board of American Medicine, the American Medical Association, and the Family Medical Association. He was a passionate outdoorsman who loved planting fruit trees, boating, and fishing. Dr. Batlle was a man of the people and believed his life purpose was to help and serve others. His giant smile, giving heart, and contagious laugh will be truly missed. Dr. Batlle is survived by his daughters, Ailish Tonacacihuatl Batlle, Xochiquetzal Aine Batlle, Caitrin Ixchel Batlle and their mother, Maureen Cassidy; granddaughter, Keira Aleyah Mendoza; mother, Marta Alicia Arevalo; sisters, Elizabeth Presidente, Maria Arevalo, Marta Bermudez, Nidia Batlle, Ilse Batlle, Mineta Batlle, and Rosa Maria Batlle; and a host of other family and dear friends. He was passionate about education and always encouraged others to pursue their educational dreams. In honor of this we ask that in lieu of flowers please consider contributing to this educational account through Wells Fargo, account number 3898365444. A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. and a service at 4:30 p.m., both at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233.
