Obituary of Melvenia Roberts Reddish

Melvenia R. Reddish was born on September 27, 1951 in Palatka, FL, to Melvin Roberts and Roberta C. Hall. As an only child, she enjoyed being active in school activities including singing in her school choir and church choir, at weddings, talent shows and even her high school graduation, something her mother also did with her graduating class. Melvenia, fondly known as “Mel,” graduated in 1969 from Dunbar/Clay High School in Green Cove Springs, FL, and later attended St. Johns River College. She also pursued academic advancement during her later years from Florida State College at Jacksonville. As a lifetime learner, she attained new knowledge and skills effortlessly and worked diligently until she mastered what she wanted to fulfill. Following college, she went on to join the City of Jacksonville’s Circuit Court system until her retirement 25 years later. She embarked on several entrepreneurial endeavors and small businesses following retirement and continued her devotion to her mother and daughter throughout life’s journey. She was a member of The Church 3:20 in Jacksonville, FL, and cited in a recent memoir that her favorite book in the Bible was Psalms. Known as a quiet, gentle spirit, she was warm, kind, devoted to the end and loved God. Our dearly beloved departed this earthly life and went to her true home, but will always be loved by her daughter. Mel was preceded in death by her Mother, Roberta C. Hall; Father, Melvin Roberts; Aunts, Bernice Ford, Hattie S. Lee, Alice E. Hunter and Catherine Hall; Uncles, William R. Hall, Jr. and Allen N. Hall, Sr. Mel is survived by her daughter, Tracey Chandler; cousins, Betty White, Gloria Ann Battle, Allen N. Hall, Jr., Michael Donaldson, Christopher White, Sam Battle, Jr., Denita Battle, Renita Battle and Cameron Collins, and a host of other cousins, relatives and sorrowing friends.
