Obituary of Dudley Pancoast Davis
Dudley Pancoast Davis passed away on January 30, 2015 at home in Orange Park, FL, with his family at his side. He was born on January 28, 1935 in Woodstown, NJ, to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Ralph and Edith Pancoast Davis.
Dudley graduated from Woodstown High School in 1953. He was employed by Anchor Glass for more than 40 years and a member of Lakeside Church of Christ.
He was a selfless, warm-hearted and caring man who was devoted entirely to his family. His charming smile and continuous laughter were contagious. He enjoyed sitting on the porch with his loved ones and an Arnold Palmer.
Dudley also enjoyed traveling with his wife, family reunions and spending time on the family farm. His hobbies included Phillies baseball, Jaguars football, Ohio State football and the NRA. He was a Ham Radio enthusiast and held an amateur radio license for more than 30 years — his call sign was N4DPD.
Dudley is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Mrs. Helen R. Davis; children, James Dudley Davis, Todd Alan Davis and Lisa Gail Hartley and her husband, Raymond; and grandchildren, Cory W. Johnson, Joshua T. Johnson and Amanda B. Herndon, her husband, Travis, and their three children, Rosalie Brooke, Camilla Madison and Levi Travis.
Dudley had the wonderful gift of always finding the good in people. His unwavering courage and hope were admired by all.
The family extends special thanks to Community Hospice for the compassionate and professional care provided.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Lakeside Church of Christ, 2539 Moody Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073.
