Obituary of Dr. John A. Fetchero, Jr.
Dr. John Anthony Fetchero Jr. passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015. He was born on June 4, 1951 in Greensburg, PA, to John Anthony Fetchero Sr. and Cleda Mary (Byerly) Fetchero.
Dr. Fetchero Jr. graduated from Greensburg Central Catholic High School in 1969. He then attended St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, graduating magna cum laude in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. In 1976, he received the Charles Reed Memorial Award and graduated from the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, IA. He completed his residency at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, MD. He was board-certified in otorhinolaryngology and oro-facial plastic surgery by both the Osteopathic and Allopathic medical boards.
He served as a flight surgeon in the U.S. Navy on the USS Forrestal, Mayport, FL; a Captain and ENT physician at NAS Jax; and an ENT physician at Orange Park and Southside Family Medical Centers. Finally, he continued his service in private practice at 1542 Kingsley Avenue in Orange Park at John A. Fetchero Jr., DO, PA, where he practiced otorhinolaryngology and oro-facial plastic surgery. He was a member of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association District 2.
His life revolved around spending time with his wife and family, as well as traveling. He immensely enjoyed practicing medicine and interacting with his colleagues. He had a passion for helping people and developing personal relationships with his many patients. He was an avid runner, and he enjoyed sports and all physical activities. His four children attended the Florida State University, where he was a booster and enjoyed attending FSU football games. He also had a passion for following and discussing politics.
Dr. John Fetchero Jr. was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife and soulmate, Wynona Ann “Beetsie” Fetchero; sons, Dr. John Anthony Fetchero III, Christopher Jason Fetchero, Dominic Vincent Fetchero and Victor Thomas Fetchero; brothers, Dr. James Fetchero and his wife, Linda, and Dr. Robert Fetchero; sister, Linda Fetchero; nephews, Vincent Fetchero, George Farrell, Shane Stanford and Paul Kestler; and nieces, Kara Fetchero and Mandee Kestler. He will be missed by all.
A private service will be held.
