Dear Dobbertien Family,
We are saddened to hear of the passing of Chris. Jeff is a great friend of our son Tanner and we have spent a good amount of time with him. We wanted to express our condolences to you in regards to this horrific loss. Loosing a son and brother is tragic for the whole family. Dear beloved family of Christopher Dobbertien, please accept my belated condolences for your loss. It is always saddest when a young life is taken away by the greatest enemy death. Christopher's personality traits of kindness, compassion, gentleness plus so many more is what endeared others to him. It is obvious that he will be missed immensely by all that knew him. We are living in a time where we experience so much pain, suffering, and sorrow. However, our Creator has promised that soon we can look forward to a time when these conditions will no longer exist. Revelation 21:3-4 "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. I was honestly lost for words when I heard the news about my friend known as Peeky. Peeky was a nice and genuine person. I don't know I single person who ever disliked him, or said a bad thing about him. I was blessed to play football and run track with him.
When I played middle school football, I was fortunate enough to suit up with the varsity for a few games. I was 12-13 years old playing with guys up to 18 years old. But Peeky was one of the older guys who was always approachable.
When I ran track, I ran the 4x800 with Peeky. Again, he was someone leading by example with his work ethic and positive attitude. He made everyone laugh continuously.
Everyday I would see Peeky wishing someone a happy birthday on Facebook. I don't think he knew the people, or ever really talked to them. That may seem insignificant to some, but this was just a small example of how caring he was, and how easy it was for him to make people happy.
I wanted to share those few stories of Peeky to remind people of how happy he made me and everyone else around him. You may have passed, but the love you provided will remain contagious and last forever. Rest peacefully, Chris Dobbertien, I thank you for the impact you had on the world.

The Dobbertiens are one of the finest families I have ever known. My family was very fortunate to have been touched by theirs.
Mark, Lisa, Chris and Chris' brothers provided endless opportunities for my son to enjoy the beach, visit local museums, and experience life's best flavors.
Mark and I spent six years of soccer coaching - and hundreds of hours discussing (savaging) the medical negligence system in Florida. Someone must have listened. The changes were all made. The kids knew more about soccer than any of us anyway. We were there for Gatorade, water, and post game pizza.
We have lost a fine young man - but one who was lucky enough to have fine parents who loved him and his brothers unconditionally. Lisa was the most involved, dedicated mother imaginable.
God bless you. I will always remember the good times - like Lisa screaming at a van load of energized boys to get their hands off anything metal in the car while driving during lightning storms. Rolling eyes. Smirks. But mom was right.

I went to school with Chris at St. Johns all the way up until 6th grade. We weren't particularly close, as I was kind of shy back then. I always admired his positive attitude and determination to create smiles and laughter. I never told him how much of a hero he was to me back then. Occassionally he would sit with me at lunch or get me to play on the playground with him and a few other kids. I can't think of a single moment when he wasn't smiling, unless he was concentrating on his next big idea to make someone laugh. He had such a HUGE heart, and was one of the most sincere people I've ever been blessed to know. I wish we had kept in touch. I am so sorry. I'll be saying prayers for the family.

Dr. Dobbertien and Family,
I am a radiologist at Flagler Hospital with the group you know -- Rob Taliferro and Milt Mendenhall. My wife Cynthia is an anesthesiologist here. We didn't have the pleasure of knowing you and your family. We lost our son Alex four years ago today. We are writing to share with you the wonderful outpouring of sympathy and support we received from the Flagler medical and hospital staff. It still means so much to us, and I know it will to you.
