Obituary of Eldon D. Rose
Eldon “Ed” Rose, 72, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2016 in his home after a battle with leukemia and other medical issues. He is the youngest son of the late Ewel and Birdie Rose and was born and raised in Alva, KY.
Eldon retired as a Command Master Chief, after serving 31 years in the United States Navy, including in the Vietnam and Gulf wars. Prior to joining the Navy in 1962, he played football and basketball for Pineville.
Eldon is survived by his loving wife, Betty; children, Michelle Rose-Lowery and Rusty Rose; siblings, Melvin Rose and Joan Shepherd; grandchildren, Michael and Emily Lucas; and a host of family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
