Obituary of John Carnel Lavergne

John Carnel Lavergne passed away on April 23, 2016 in Green Cove Springs, FL. He was born on February 1, 1954 in Lafayette, LA, to the late Walter Lavergne and Cecelia Guillory Lavergne. John received his Bachelor of Science degree in management from University of Phoenix in 2011 and retired as Petty Officer First Class with the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed fishing, cars, football (Redskins fan), basketball, and spending time with family and friends. John was preceded in death by his sisters, Lenora Lavergne-Johnson and Mary Lavergne-Santos, and brother, Lenier Lavergne. John leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Dietra Conway Lavergne; daughter, Kenya Nycole (Lavergne) Smith; son, Rashid Elijah Lavergne; grandchildren, Bria Nycole and Christopher Paul Smith, II; brothers, Alfred, Joseph Norman, Joseph Carey and Ronald Lavergne; sisters, Nelma Stevens, Eltra Bellard and Roma Nell Jones, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family extends a special thank you to Kindred Acute Care Hospital and University of Florida Shands Hospital. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at 10:00 a.m., at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233.
