Obituary of Gary John Lancaster
Gary John Lancaster, passed away on March 14, 2016. He was born October 27, 1944 in Nashville, TN, to the late Lamon and Julia Lancaster.
He served 22 years in the U. S. Navy including service in the Vietnam and Desert Storm Wars, serving with the U.S. Marines as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman. He retired as a Chief Hospital Corpsman and continued working as a Respiratory Therapist in the civilian sector for a combined time of 40 years. He owned a durable medical equipment (DME) company before fully retiring in 2009.
Gary was a spiritual man who supported family wishes as a Christian of faith. Gary enjoyed family first and foremost, golf with friends and family, and being a runner of thirty plus years with his wife Tammy.
He was preceded by his parents and brother, Phillip Lancaster; and mother in-law Darlene Peters.
Gary is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Lancaster; children, Erin, Jesse and Jennifer; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; son-in-law Anthony (Tony) Taylor; sister, Kathleen Faulkner; father in-law Heye Peters, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Frank Faulkner, Paul Iverson, Shawn Peters; sisters-in-law Ronda Iverson, Megan Peters, Connie Peters; and friend, Julia Andrejewski; five nephews and two nieces, and a host of family members and friends.
Gary battled metastatic colorectal cancer for three years until his final day when the disease took his life. He passed peacefully at home with loving family members by his side until his last breath. He put up a good fight, but in the end God had other plans for him. His final resting place will be Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors, in honor of serving his country. His family and friends will always remember Gary as a hero, wonderful family man, loving and caring husband and father, and best friend, who will be deeply missed, by those whose lives he touched.
