Obituary of Christine M. Ritch

Christine Mildred Ritch, 85, peacefully passed away at her grandson’s home on Friday, February 12, 2016 in Orange Park, FL. She was born on October 11, 1930 in Okeechobee, FL, to George Lewis Walters and Paralee Johns. Christine was a devout Christian and member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. On April 5, 1954, she married James Alfred Ritch, her husband of 37 years, and gave birth to their daughter, Patricia Ann Ritch, on April 2, 1956. Christine lived a long and full life. She impacted those around her with love and kindness. Christine believed learning was a lifelong process and enjoyed intellectual challenges such as politics, studying legal procedures, creating documents and jigsaw puzzles. Christine was preceded in death by her parents and husband, brothers, Sydney, Norman, Ferrell and Kenneth; and sisters, Hazel, Marjorie and Juanita. Christine is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ritch and Darlene Sherman; grandchildren, James Prescott and Stacy Cantrell; brothers, Dredsel, Reggie and Edward; sister, Virginia Dunleavey; nephew, James Taylor, as well as many additional nephews, nieces and great-grandchildren; and very close and dear friend, Edward L. McCormick. A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Yulee Cemetery, 86247 Palmetto Street, Yulee, FL.
