Obituary of Joan Patricia Weber
Joan Patricia Weber, 81, passed away on January 27, 2016 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born in Braddock, Pennsylvania to the late Frank Meres and Vivian Giles.
Pat, as she was known to friends and family, had a warm, friendly and loving nature. She enjoyed taking walks, especially when surrounded by nature. If she wasn’t looking up into the trees for birds she was leaning in to smell the flowers or stopping to talk with a neighbor. She cared about people and their circumstances and was always ready to help friends, neighbors and strangers.
She traveled the world with her husband, living in Europe for thirteen years enjoying the culture, history and food of many countries, her favorite being Italy.
For most of her adult life she was a competitive bowler, but also looked forward to family bowling with her children and grandchildren. She stayed active participating in bowling leagues, golfing, card clubs and bocce leagues.
Joan celebrated 58 years of marriage in 2015 to Anthony J. “Tony” Weber. She was the proud and loving mother of six daughters: Audrey Weber (Robert Johnson), Juanita Weber, Yvonne Weber Almeida (Jeff), Janine Weber (Zekeriya Demir), Valerie Weber (Tom Rohrer), and Stacy Weber. She is survived by two brothers, Frank Meres and Phil Meres, and two sisters, Cathy Meres and Cindy Meres Vranich. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Emre and Erin Demir, and Kealana and Makoa Almeida. They will love and cherish their memories of her forever.
A devout Catholic, she always found strength and comfort in her faith. A mass will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5752 Blanding Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32244. A visitation will be on Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233.
