Obituary of Robert Richard Jordan
Robert “Bob” R. Jordan passed away on October 29, 2015 in Orange Park, FL. He was born on October 13, 1942 in Charlotte, NC, to the late Frank Jordan, Sr. and Frances Coble Jordan.
Bob received his B.A. degree in History from Duke University and M.S. degree in Management from the Naval Postgraduate School. Serving in the U.S. Navy for 21 years, Bob retired as a Commander in the Naval Supply Corps, taught Social Studies for 15 years and coached wrestling for 18 years at Lakeside Junior High School in Orange Park, FL.
Bob enjoyed college and professional sports, spending time with his family and listening to music.
Bob was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry Harrison Jordan and Annie Sellars Jordan, and maternal grandparents, Garland Coble, Sr. and Hattie Wooters Coble.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Donna “Dee” C. Jordan; daughter, Jeannette Jordan Brown (Thomas); sons, Jeffrey Frank Jordan (Shannon) and Joseph Henry Jordan (Ima); grandchildren, Matthew Robert and Paul Wesley Brown, Elizabeth Deeann and Landon Robert Jordan; brothers, Frank Jordan, Jr. and David Michael Jordan; sister, Janet Jordan Chase; nieces, Betsy Jordan Bell, Ginny Jordan Song and Katherine Jordan Schadler.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may go to the Robert R. Jordan Wrestling Scholarship Fund, 2233 Village Square Parkway, Fleming Island, FL 32003. Make checks payable to Fleming Island High School, Attention: Jeff Jordan.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., following the memorial visitation at 10:30 a.m., both at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233.
