Obituary of Ellias George Lemon, Jr.
Mr. Ellias George Lemon, 71, passed away on October 17, 2015 at St Vincent’s Hospital (Riverside), Jacksonville, FL. He was born August 5, 1944 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Ellias George Lemon, Sr. and the late Sarah (Lucas) Lemon.
Ellias attended Duval County public schools and graduated from New Stanton High School where he was Head Drum Major of the Marching Blue Devils. He attended Florida A&M University where he was a freshman Drum Major in the Marching 100. He served in the U.S. Army. Ellias worked for the Florida Division of Forestry, and in transportation as a truck driver. Known to most as George, Mr. Lemon loved cooking, playing cards and sending time with his friends, classmates and fellow veterans.
Ellias was preceded in death by his parents and adopted parents, Rufus and Gladys Sumpter. He is survived by his sisters, Marie Collins and Gloria Lemon both of MN. He also leaves his children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends who will miss him.
Known to most as George, Mr. Lemon loved cooking, playing cards and sending time with his friends, classmates and fellow veterans.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at True Holiness Deliverance Tabernacle, 221 East 27th Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment will be at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.
