Cacildo Prado Pace passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, FL. Cacilda was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil and came to the United States in 1942 where she was a naturalized U.S. citizen. Cacilda spent most of her life in Pensacola, FL before moving to Orange Park, FL in 1998. She was married to John C. Pace, an industrialist and philanthropist, of Pensacola before his death in 1976. She was by her husband’s side in the 1960’s when the State of Florida was expanding the university system in Florida of which John Pace received much of the credit for bringing the University of West Florida to Pensacola. As an honorarium, the University of West Florida named the library the John C. Pace Library which has been a great source of pride for Cacilda and her family. She was also very fond of and supported St. Johns Country Day School in Orange Park as three of her grandsons attended St. Johns. Her many interests over the years included, gardening, traveling, cooking, reading and entertaining. Mrs. Pace is survived by her daughter, Carol Pace Allez of Paris, France; her son, James “Bud” of Orange Park, FL and daughter-in-law, Linda; grandchildren, Adrien Allez of Miami, FL, Joy Maire and Sophie Mahot of Paris, France, Kurtis, Kristofer and John Pace of Orange Park, FL.
