Obituary of Christopher Alan Dobbertien

Christopher Alan Dobbertien was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 19, 1991. He passed away July 06, 2016. Chris was a beloved son and brother. He was everyone's best little brother; considerate, generous, kind and always trying to make people laugh with his charming sense of humor. Chris loved sports, animals, nature and thinking deeply. He looked to God for guidance, had a gift for motivating others, encouraged exercise and enjoyed playing the guitar. Chris was a highly sensitive and compassionate leader. He was respected, trusted, dependable, patient and courageous; his companionship was a gift to many. He loved the outdoors, especially being on the water - surfing or wakeboarding. He was a voracious reader which sparked his imagination to dream big. Chris was a talented athlete - playing soccer, football, basketball, cross country and track. He was a member of the 2005 St. Johns Country Day School Soccer State Champions, where he attended high school, graduating in 2010. He attended the University of Florida from 2010-2014 where he studied mechanical engineering. He is survived by his parents, Mark and Lisa Dobbertien; and three brothers and one sister-in-law, Ryan, Jeff, Matt and Megan. He is also survived by his four grandparents, Frank and Sara (Sally) Dobbertien and Jim and Jane Dynan; five aunts and uncles, Kathy and Jim Black, Linda Dynan and Ken Katkin, Patty and Andy Byron, Mike and Amanda Dynan, Lisa and Randy DeBoer; and eleven cousins, Moira, Jimmy and Eileen Black, Nathan and Molly Katkin, Sean and Rachel Byron, Connor and Brendan Dynan, and Tyler and Chelsea DeBoer. A visitation and vigil service will be held on Friday, July 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 1649 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073.
