Obituary of Dorothy Margaret Wheeler

Ms. Dorothy M. Wheeler departed this life to be with the Lord on April 13, 2016 in Jacksonville, FL. She was born on September 26, 1933 in Blackshear, GA to the late James and Mary Oliver. Dorothy was educated in Los Angeles, CA. and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School. She attended Los Angeles City College earning an Associate of Arts Degree. Dorothy moved to Chicago, IL where she spent most of her adult life. She was employed and retired from Xerox Corporation after twenty-five years of dedicated service. After many years in Chicago she relocated to FL. and became a faithful member of Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church. She served her church faithfully on District 27, the Senior Ministry and Red Hats Society. Dorothy was a world renowned traveler. She took pride in traveling to most of the fifty states and some of the Caribbean Islands. In addition to traveling, she loved spending time with family,a friends, shopping and playing cards. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Helen and Doretha Oliver and brother, Henry Oliver. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Debra Robinson and Roxanne Williams; sons, Eric and Jacob Wheeler; grandchildren, Donnesha Brown (Robert), Marcceo Hill (Damaris), Brandon Wheeler (Shaunteria), Phillip, Christopher, Ronnie and Christina; great-grandchildren, Lonnell, Ciara, Mykal and Braylon; brother, James Oliver ; god-daughter, Carnetta; several nieces and nephews; cousins, Clifford, Richard and Preston Oliver and a host of other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. following a memorial visitation beginning at 2:30 p.m., both at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, Florida 32073, (904) 264-1233.
