Obituary of Margaret Linda Elich

Margaret L. “Peggy” Elich, 76, passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of August 14 after a long and courageous battle with emphysema. She was born in New York City on November 30, 1939 to the late Alexander and Margaret McConnachie. As a Navy wife Peggy traveled the world and moved frequently within the United States and abroad; from Rhode Island, to Paris, France, and through several assignments on both coasts, adapting fabulously. Retiring in Orange Park, Peggy and her husband Bob enjoyed family and friends from their home in Orange Park for over 40 years. Until recently, Peggy especially enjoyed her country cabin in North Carolina. She was also predeceased by brother, George MCConnachie. Peggy is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Elich; daughters, Deirdre Craven and Jennifer Elich of Orange Park; son, Robert Elich (Robyn) of Augusta, GA; brother, Bruce (Becky) McConnachie of Bremen, GA. Also surviving are the lights of her life, grandchildren Jeremy Craven, Megan (Patrick) Fortunato, Ashley Elich and Katie Elich and blessed by the addition of five great grandchildren Tyler, Carson, Payton, Zeke and Colton. She leaves behind many cherished friends including Mary and Carl Summers, Gwen and Joe Gilmore and Mary and Tom Abboud. A memorial service will be held on, Thursday, August 18, at 11:00 a.m. immediately following the visitation beginning 10:30 a.m., at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073 (904) 264-1233. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the Winterbourne Inn, 2143 Astor Street, Orange Park, FL 32073. The family request in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice, 745 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL 32065 or a charity of your choice.
